"Newsies" Hits Million Dollar Mark

This week at the box office Wicked and The Lion King took in over $2 million for the second week in a row, and Newsies is selling plenty of papes, er tickets. The show is packing in standing room only crowds and crossed the $1 million mark for the first time during its run. Long-running hits Mary PoppinsThe Phantom of the Opera andMamma Mia! also had a week of $1 million receipts, while The Book of Mormon broke the house record at the Eugene O'Neill Theatre for the 32nd time. Meanwhile new Sister Act star Raven-Symoné has been a big asset to the show, which took in $951,537.
